What business support facilities are there?

-
One of the reasons why the Thames Valley is such a successful location for business is the support network which is available for growing companies in whatever sector -IT, Biotech, Life Sciences, Medical, Automotive Engineering or Environment Technologies. Various organisations are set up to provide business support and advice to businesses of all sizes from start-ups to growing and emerging companies.
Thames Valley Economic Partnership is one of them. It has set itself up as a membership organisation to promote the Thames Valley to an international audience and is committed to supporting the region's business community and encouraging existing companies to expand within the region. One of their innovative schemes is the new Thames Valley Investment Network, which links up companies seeking funding with venture capitalists seeking investment opportunities.
The University of Reading is also dedicating itself to encouraging and supporting business growth within the Thames Valley, promoting itself as a centre for excellence in the fields of Life Sciences and biotechnology. It provides active support, from providing business incubator units for start-up companies to rentable laboratory space which provides state-of-the art facilities found nowhere else in the UK. All this is backed up by active advice and support from experts in their field committed to nurturing and growing business within the Thames Valley.
The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce also provides valuable business support to SME's and PLC's alike and provides many opportunities for companies to network and raise their business profile within the community and beyond.
And, of course, Reading Borough Council continues to support the business network in the area and to encourage inward investment and growth through its Business Development Department. Advice on all aspects of business growth from expansion to relocation within the area can be accessed from their business development team.
