What is there to do after work?

Reading offers a wide choice of more than 100 contemporary wine and café bars, restaurants and pubs, both traditional and modern. Some of these can be found alongside the recently relandscaped Kennet canal within the Oracle shopping development, affording attractive al fresco seating in the summer where outdoor concerts and festivals are regularly featured. Others are interspersed throughout the lively town centre, providing entertainment all the year round.
The Hexagon is the town’s main live entertainment centre presenting touring plays, musicals and concert gigs. For something more alternative, there is the 21 South Street Arts Centre with its Friday Comedy Club and new theatre, dance and music presentations. The Concert Hall in Reading's Town Hall is home to lecture series and concerts while the Funky Jazz Club is rapidly becoming one of the south’s leading live music venues.
Film fans can catch the latest releases at the Warner Village cinema in the Oracle or, out of town, at the Showcase cinema close to Lower Earley, Woodley and Winnersh.
